Small Business Creation

The impact of successful small and local businesses on vulnerable communities is difficult to overstate. Bringing steady income to families helps keep children in school longer, frees up funds for medical treatment, and opens opportunities for fiscal responsibility.

We have an absolutely incredible small business project in the works: pristine, arable land just begging to be used for bigger and better things. Marea Foundation, Inc. is partnering with the local community to turn this tract of 280 acres into a thriving agricultural cooperative called the Zamora Farm Project.

What we have: plans and determination.

What we need: equipment, funding, and expertise.

More specifically, we need equipment for planting, harvesting, processing and packaging the various raw products this land will produce (dairy, poultry, beef, and hay). We need funding to purchase, ship, operate, and maintain the equipment.

Like you’ve seen all over this website, our ultimate goal is to put ourselves out of a job, which means that this project will be turned over completely to the local community. That means that we need to teach the local community how to run the entire operation on their own, which is where our need for expertise comes in. While we have no doubt that Marea Foundation, Inc.’s Small Business Incubation Team could learn the mechanics of operating and maintaining combine harvesters, we also know that there are already experts in this field whose skills and teachings would ensure a more efficient turnover to the community.
