How It’s Going

COVID-19, hurricanes, landslides…you name it, we got it.

About three months after Marea Foundation formed, COVID-19 sparked lockdowns and mandatory quarantines across the globe. We were no exception to that. We hunkered down and did what we could from afar. Two Category-4 hurricanes tore through Honduras, wiping out crops, flooding livestock grazing fields, and leaving millions homeless and wondering where their next meal would come from. With the floods came landslides, and a lot of them. Roads were partially or entirely either covered and/or washed away, making it extremely difficult for supplies to be transported into the region. We are incredibly grateful for those who donated money during this time – we were able to provide meals, clothes, and masks for those who had lost everything.

Now, travel restrictions are beginning to lift. Hopefully this means we’ll be able to make a trip to Honduras to see our long-term projects up close and personal. In the meantime, please make sure you’ve like and followed our Facebook page so you can get all the latest news and updates as they happen. Additionally, you can contact us for more information (our contact form is at the bottom of the homepage) or make a donation to ensure we can keep working to put ourselves out of a job.
